Build Memories helps you turn “we should do this someday” into real experiences with the people who matter. This page explains what we store, why, who handles it, and your rights. For anything about your data, contact support@build-memories.com.

What we store, and why

We store only what the app needs to provide the service you signed up for — that is the legal basis for all of it:

• Your account: your email address and password. We never see the password itself — our login provider stores it in protected (hashed) form.
• What you create: your experiences and wishes, the people and groups you add (names, plus an email address or phone number if you enter one), invitations and their responses, and your reminders.
• Your memories: the photos and stories you save on completed experiences. Photos are stored privately with our database provider, are only ever visible to you, and are deleted with your account. Before a photo uploads, the app makes a smaller copy on your device and strips the photo’s hidden metadata — including its GPS location.
• Problem reports: if you report a problem, your message and your account email arrive in our support inbox as an email, so we can reply.

No ads, and we never sell or share your data.

How long we keep it

As long as your account exists. Delete your account and everything in it is removed immediately and permanently. Support emails stay in the support mailbox only as long as they’re needed to help you.

The people you add and invite

Your people list is your private address book. The people you add don’t get accounts or profiles, and we don’t contact them — with two exceptions: when you send them an invitation, and if they later choose to create an account of their own.

When you send an invitation, we email that person a private link. It shows them the experience and your invitation, and their reply is stored with the experience. They don’t need an account to reply.

Who handles the data

We don’t run our own servers. A small set of service providers processes data on our behalf, under data-processing agreements: our database and login provider, our hosting provider (which also counts page views anonymously — no cookies, no visitor profiles, and record IDs and invitation links are stripped out before anything is counted), our email delivery provider, and our error-monitoring provider (whose reports carry no IP address, no identity, and no location). Some of them may process data outside the EU; where that happens, it’s covered by EU-approved safeguards (standard contractual clauses).

Cookies and email

The only cookie is the essential one that keeps you logged in — no tracking cookies. There are no marketing emails: you only get the emails the app sends for you (invitations you send, reminders you set, signup confirmation, password reset, and replies from support).

Your rights

• Everything you’ve entered is visible and editable in the app.
• You can delete your account and every piece of your data yourself, in the app, at any time: Account → Delete account. It takes effect immediately and permanently.
• For a copy of your data, or any other request, email the address above.
• You can also complain to the data-protection authority of your country — though we’d appreciate the chance to fix things first.

Changes

The app will evolve, and this policy will evolve with it — it may later involve new data, new providers, cookies, or new kinds of email. Whenever something changes, this policy is updated first and the date at the top moves. Where the law requires your consent for a change (marketing emails, for example, are always opt-in), we ask before it applies to you.
